About Me
I am a Young Marine
Hi, my name is Olivia. I am 12 years old and in 6th grade. I am part of the Young Marines Program at my school, which you can learn more about below. This program has been a fun and exciting experience for me! I was the Honor Graduate of my Recruit Class and also studied hard to become one of the first 6th graders to promote from Private First Class to Lance Corporal in a decade.
My Trip This Summer
This summer, my Young Marines Unit is visiting Costa Rica. During this trip, I will be learning about the ecosystem and biodiversity of the rain forest, Costa Rican culture including cooking lessons, and I will get to experience some fun adventures like white water rafting and hiking a volcano. My goal is to raise funds toward the cost of this trip.
Thank you for your consideration!
What is Young Marines?
The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for middle school students. The Young Marines program promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. It is focused on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Throughout the school year, Young Marines learn military drills and commands, are required to meet and maintain physical fitness benchmarks, and are given training and testing opportunities for rank promotion. They play team sports like flag football and capture the flag. They learn to use air rifles, compound bows, go fishing, and also keep a vegetable garden and raise their own chickens. It's an amazing experience!
